Practice Makes Permanent Program

We’ll teach you to how to practice so you get real results!

When you get our “Practice Makes Permanent Program,” you learn how to practice.

You make a deep dive into real improvement and a commitment to playing the ukulele well. You get an online membership that gives you weekly practice guidance. You improve on your ukulele. And you do it with a group of people who come together in a closed Facebook group.

How do I know if PMPP is for me?

The Practice Makes Permanent Program is for you if:

  1. You like practicing in the comfort of your own home.
  2. You are willing to practice and commit to it.
  3. You are self-motivated.
  4. You can work on your own with practice charts and videos to improve.
  5. You don’t want private lessons, but you want guidance.

You will like the sense of community that comes with being part of a program. You get access to four lessons for each month of subscription. These lessons guide you through specific musical skills that get to the heart of the issue. They help you discover the underlying musical skills that work with any song. Along the way, you go through five of our books, master a select group of favorite songs and learn more about the blues.

Sharing in the experience of learning new techniques is helpful.

Cathy

I sit down and feel centered. I print out a practice chart. That helps me remember to warm up, practice a technique, work 10 times on a hard part! And lastly to play something I know well just for fun.

Won’t private lessons be better?

No, not really. Because being a part of a group that has common goals and interests can be more powerful than private lessons. You can work at your own pace in your own home to get better at the ukulele. Mindful practicing is the key to improvement at any skill. Individual coaching can help, but mindful, guided practice will give you the most success. Especially if you work with others, you’ll be able to grow so much more as you learn the material. The practice guide will not just teach you the songs. It will teach you the underlying skills you need for each song. These skills will give you the building blocks to learn to play whatever you want. For a fraction of the cost of lessons, you’ll become your own coach. And you won’t have to get nervous playing for a teacher.

I think I’m getting it. I’m kind of a dinosaur with this tech stuff. Thank you for making this possible for me with your comprehensive lessons. I’m really slow and might have to spend longer on a lesson but it is all good. I sure am enjoying my ukulele. Thank you so much.

Ellen Naylor

Here is an example of what one of the practice charts looks like

You get weekly “Questions for Reflection”

You will answer questions about how you practiced. You’ll create a journal of your progress over time. Moving through the material and keeping a record of it is highly motivational.

Here is an example of the “Questions for Reflection” that come with each lesson

By learning the underlying musical skills of that unit, you will turbocharge your practice.  Once you fill out and submit these guides, you will show you have successfully finished this unit. When you have completed the entire course, you will receive a certificate. Having milestones along the way, you will be motivated to make practicing a daily habit. Improvement will come naturally.

Closed Facebook Group Builds Community

You will also get to join a closed Facebook group where you can meet with others to discuss your progress. Here is where you can share practice tips on what worked for you and post videos of your ukulele playing. If you have questions, you can reach out to the community in one of the forums. Someone else in the community can answer back on how they solved that problem. Working with others will help you with your musical growth on the ukulele.

I don’t feel alone in my learning and the best is that I can pick up tips from those learning too.

Barb

Support, encouragement, and positive feedback. I have heard so many times that playing the ukulele is so easy and doesn’t require lessons. I feel that being surrounded by peers who are experiencing the same difficulties is supportive.

Brad

The Practice Makes Permanent Program includes:

  • Weekly “assignments” targeted to the music you’re working on. You’ll journal with our “Weekly Questions for Reflection.”
  • Explanations on what the biggest musical issue for the week is and how to practice to master that issue.
  • You’ll create your own online journal to record what you’ve learned. You’ll be taking a “deep dive” to manage your own progress over time.
  • You’ll have a chance to join a closed Facebook group where you can meet with others to discuss your progress.
  • Learning extensions if you have already mastered the material in that lesson.

Here is an example of the Accordion that comes at the beginning of each lesson.

We designed these lessons for many levels of learners. If you find the material to be easy, open the homework tab and practice journal. If you master everything, go on to the “Extended Learning Opportunities” panel.

We are building the Practice Makes Permanent Program membership site now. We are using customer insight to make the program the best that it can be. As a result, new customers need to start at the beginning of the program. The ending units aren’t built yet. We are only a few weeks ahead of you!

Once everything is complete, customers will have the chance to jump in anywhere they want. But not now. Be part of the select group to help us build the Practice Makes Permanent Program. You’ll be glad you did. You’ll help shape the program to be helpful for anyone who wants to learn the ukulele. Once the program is finished, we’ll increase the prices. So, if you’re interested, join now!

By learning the underlying musical skills of that unit, you turbocharge your practice.  Once you fill out and answer these questions for reflection, you show you have successfully finished this unit. Practice Makes Permanent Program

The program starts at the beginning of our first book, 21 Songs in 6 Days, and moves through Books 2 to 5. Along the way, you learn the underlying musical skills of each song. You turbocharge your practice.  Once you follow the practice charts and fill out the questions for reflection, you will know you have successfully finished a lesson. When you’re comfortable, you can post in the closed Facebook group. When you have completed the entire course, you will receive a certificate. Having milestones along the way motivates you to make practicing a daily habit. Improvement comes naturally.

Why use the Practice Makes Permanent Program?

Your learning is personalized. You work at your own pace to go through all the lessons and songs. You progress from one lesson to the next one week at a time.

There are learning extensions in some of the lessons. If you’re a more advanced learner, you can go through the main ideas in more depth. If things are at a good level for you, simply work on the main lesson. If you want extensions, they are in the accordion at the top of the page.

As you progress, we read your questions and respond. We give live lessons in the Facebook group to help you learn better. We go back into the earlier lessons and make changes based on what proves to be most helpful to you.

The Practice Makes Permanent Program is a living and growing membership site. PMPP offers you the chance to grow and a become better musician. Along the way, you are in a community with like-minded learners who motivate and inspire you.

I really enjoyed this course and all of the courses by the ukulele sisters. The courses are clear, straightforward and fun!
