With 9 days at sea, Jenny will be conducting classes and group playing for 2 hours in the morning for a total of 18 hours of instruction and practice. You have time to practice on your own or in groups, during the afternoons. (See below for additional details on the course.)

About Jenny Peters – Your Guest Instructor on the Cruise
Jenny Peters is a well-regarded composer, conductor, and clinician in the Chicago area. She has taught thousands of beginners on a variety of instruments during her many years of teaching. Jenny developed her unique beginner-friendly method of teaching ukulele when she learned to play to include ukulele to her fourth grade General Music classes.
The Illinois Music Educators Association has invited Jenny to do presentations on how to teach ukulele, and she has written articles on the subject for the magazine of the Illinois chapter of the American String Teachers Association. She is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NaFME), the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
Jenny has served on the faculties of Lake Forest College and the College of Lake County. She taught piano, violin and chamber music at the Music Institute of Chicago and the Lake Forest Music Institute. She holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Washington. She earned her teacher’s certification from Trinity International University to share her passion for music with students of diverse backgrounds.
Jenny plays six other instruments besides ukulele: piano, violin, viola, cello, bass and organ.

Ukulele.io has teamed with Jean (our tour coordinator) for a surprise on shore experience that no ukulele player will want to miss. (Details will be available closer to the cruise date.)
Ukulele Course Details – What You Can Expect to Learn
Jenny will structure the course to intermediate players. Beginners and advanced players are also welcome. Jenny will have both easier and more advanced music available. Jenny looks to make this as much fun and entertaining as possible.
With over 20 hours of instruction and practice we expect you will have learned some music theory and form, build the confidence to jam with others, and take back to your ukulele clubs at home.
Here are some details:
- Cruise lessons will incorporate ukulele orchestra.
- The group will learn songs from the two books that include intermediate skills and folk songs. In addition, Jenny is creating new arrangements that can be downloaded for free and printed to bring with you on the tour.
- A total of 65 songs will be available for learning and playing.
- The group will be signing up for the Talent Show on the cruise where you could play on stage for the other passengers.
- We expect the group will be playing together in a dedicated room on the ship.
- Jenny will also available for private lessons as time allows.
