ISLAND STYLE UKULELE TUTORIAL
To follow this Island Style ukulele tutorial, you’ll need four open chords: C, C7, F and G7. As with last week’s video, the strumming pattern is a bit tricky: D-DU-UDU (D-down, U-up). Here’s a video tutorial on how to learn this strumming pattern (go to 0:36). Finally, Jenny also does some cool fingerpicking on the introduction and instrumental interlude.

HAWAII’S LOCAL ANTHEM
John Cruz, a singer and songwriter hailing from Oahu, Hawaii, composed Island Style. He included the song in his debut album Acoustic Soul, which was released in 1996. Island Style remains popular around the world to this day. Also, it has become a cherished local anthem in Hawaii. The album Acoustic Soul also included other popular songs such as Sitting in Limbo and Shine On.
